Bairakuppa lies just 3km away from Machur. To reach here, take Kuruva island road and take right turn after the Baveli check post and travel along the Machur village road. Bairakuppa is a small market place on the banks of Kabani river. Though the local language is Kannada, we can see many malayalis including merchants. Fish like chemballi, vaala, catla which are caught from Kabani are sold here. There ae many people who come here to buy these fresh water fish. These fish are completely sold as soon as they reach the market. So, those who come after 8 in the morning often have to leave empty-handed. Tourists flock to this area during rainy season. The boat ride when the river is almost overflowing is a lovely experience. The monsoon adds to the beauty of this place. Though not a very popular tourist destination, Bairakuppa is a place to spend time with your family to get a life time experience.
