Periya is a small unexplored village in Wayanad district, Kerala. This beautiful land has its own environmental significance. The main attractions of Periya are, the Periya churam, Chandanathode (the only pine forest in Kerala), the beautiful football ground in the forest, Periya peak tea and the Gurukula Botanical garden. The locals are very friendly in Periya. Visitors to Wayanad can reach Kannur district via Periya churam. Periya is also famous for being the store house of gene pool of natural genetic diversity of plants. Many famous botanists have plants from Periya in their collections.
